Get tuneEcu and learn it, ist super easy and the way to seamlessly install a map from dnk. I dont think the ecu likes being “shipped”. With an ECU flash, you will be getting all the features of a piggyback plus more A fully tuned computer has many benefits. ![]() ![]() So, what is an ECU anyway A motorcycle's ECU, short for the engine control unit, will sometimes be referred to as an ECM, or engine control module. An ECU flash, or a full replacement tune, is a 100 raw replacement of your stock computer with a new tuned one. Just now getting through break in on the 900 so starting to get into more (at 750 miles).Īs far as sending in your ecu, i wouldnt, that is where glitches are created. Flashing an ECU is tuning or reprogramming the engine of your motorcycle to take what the manufacturer or a previous owner sold you and (ideally) enhance its performance. I know the difference in where the 850/900 make torque and hp, but it was really good coming out of corners. now that i have Gt pro, that 850 pulled pretty good. Our BrockFLASH is designed to work in conjunction with a Brock’s Performance full exhaust system, Dynojet PCV (sold separately,) and Brock’s custom PCV fuel mapping to provide the most complete, user-friendly fuel adjustment combination possible. Its primary purpose is to improve rideability. It’s like going from wearing glasses, which merely alter the light entering your eyes, to having Lasik surgery that reshapes your cornea at the source. I didnt go back and forth from stock map to dnk to really see the difference and i wish i had cause there was a difference, and it could be more than i am thinking. The benefits of ECU flashing aren’t necessarily about headline-grabbing power gains but rather achieving a smoother, more responsive power delivery throughout the rev range. ECU flashing is akin to giving your motorcycle’s engine a comprehensive makeover. I have a new gt pro and am not going to install a map unless i take off the cat and change muffler and modify in any way, that is were they can probably do you the most good in gaining extra hp. It didnt not increase hp like i had hoped but it did make the bike run cooler And seem to pull harder in higher rpm. The ECU Electronic Control Unit is a bike’s electronic ‘brain’. I got tuneEcu and put on the dnk map for it. The variety and extent of control offered by an ECU flash is staggering. all you need to do on new bikes is check throttle position percentages, maybe the fan temp kick on so forth and a few other localized parameters for optimization for whatever direction you are trying to go.A few months ago i got a tiger 850. An ECU flash is undeniably more advanced and streamlined, and generally speaking it costs about 250 to 300 to have a shop perform a flash, which is actually cheaper than buying a Power Commander. Tweaking your ECU means removing things like low RPM power. Why it makes no sense at all to me why anyone would get a new bike toss the closed loop system then say "oh i need to get it mapped now" when the closed loop system does that for you on the fly at all times no matter where you are or what altitude? why you paid more money for the bike. ECU tuning is the art and science of cracking the code that the factory installs in your motorcycles brain and giving it an upgrade. ![]() these older bikes are open loop FI systems The impulse to tune an ECU starts with a desire for more horsepower. Ī "map" or reflashed ECU is a preset for whatever conditions and mods were on said bike where this map was developed, I've never seen these reflash guys ask what altitude do you want it flashed for what temp so on so forth, just mods and maybe eliminate this or increase RPM and advance timing whatever, crank fan on earlier. altitude, air temp so on so forth, also things like engine compression all that, very specific to said bike. A dyno tune will dial in the tune for wherever you are and your specific bike, mods and conditions whatever, conditions can be.
